New Google device at FCC could be Nest Thermostat with Soli radar

Google's new wireless device, identified as GJQ8U, has recently passed through FCC regulations, hinting at an imminent release.

This device boasts both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, alongside a 60GHz radar system reminiscent of Google's Soli technology, previously featured in the 2020 Nest Thermostat.

Notably, unlike its predecessors that used electronic labels, GJQ8U sports a distinct physical FCC label that is laser-etched onto its rear.

In the 2020 model, Soli technology enabled features such as automatically illuminating the display when users approach and managing Home & Away Routines seamlessly.

There is speculation within the tech community regarding whether GJQ8U heralds the launch of a successor to the Nest Learning Thermostat or represents an update to the entry-level model.

While some conjecture that it might serve as a Smart Display, the absence of certain sensors like Thread, typically used for border routing, suggests alternative possibilities.

Another plausible use case could be a smart speaker, although Soli's effectiveness is often maximized when paired with a display interface.

With anticipation mounting, enthusiasts eagerly await further details from Google about this intriguing new addition to their lineup.
