Swedish Meatballs Recipe

1 pound ground beef 1/2 pound ground pork 1/2 cup breadcrumbs 1/4 cup milk 1 small onion, finely chopped

Ingredients:

1 egg 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice Salt and pepper to taste Butter or oil for frying

Ingredients:

In a bowl, combine breadcrumbs and milk. Let it sit for a few minutes until the breadcrumbs absorb the milk.

Step 1.

Add ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, egg, allspice, salt, and pepper to the breadcrumb mixture. Mix well until combined.

Step 2

Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1-inch in diameter.

Step 3

Heat butter or oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the meatballs until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes. Remove meatballs from skillet and set aside.

Step 4

To make the sauce, in the same skillet, whisk together beef broth, heavy cream, flour, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.

Step 5

Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer for another 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meatballs are heated through and coated in the sauce.

Step 6

Serve the Swedish meatballs hot, garnished with parsley if desired. They are traditionally served over mashed potatoes or with lingonberry sauce on the side.
